I have a love/hate relationship with running.
I don't always enjoy it, but some days I do.
In high school I ran track and hated it. I couldn't breathe (undiagnosed exercise induced asthma) and often suffered from shin splints.
In college I started running as a source to lose weight and the most I would ever run was a mile or two.
I'm not a racer, I'm not a distance runner and I don't have any hopes or aspirations to run a marathon some day. I've run three miles for the past 5 years. Three is my number. I don't run any less and I don't run any more. And after 5 years, some days those 3 miles are still hard.
I am not fast. I run a 10 min/mile. Maybe 9 min on a good day.
I'm a bit of a running snob. I can only run under ::perfect:: conditions, read: on the beach. I am only motivated to run anywhere near water. Put me on a treadmill and forget it. When I moved to *Colorado, the weather conditions were harsh for me. Summers were 100 degrees and winters were too cold to run outside. How motivating. I didn't run as much.
In California I am spoiled to the temperate climate and am lucky to live on the boardwalk. A perfect place to run.
I also have exercise induced asthma, or as I now like to call it, climate induced asthma. Both Michigan and Colorado don't have a favorable climate for my lungs I've found and I've never once had a problem while running in California. Weird. Or I am just a picky runner.
What works for you? Do you have a love/hate relationship with any type of workout?

oh gosh i have such a love/hate relationship with running as well. I ran track in HS too and for some reason I loved it back then. Now..well now I run to maintain/lose weight and even though sometimes I feel amazing after I still don't actually enjoy the running.
I have the most ridiculous relationship with running. I completely hate it. But am doing the C25K for a means of weight loss. Trying to lose baby weight is ridiculous. But running seems to help quite a bit.
I also have a love-hate relationship with running! I love how I feel after I run, but some days just can't manage it. Some days, I'm just too busy, or the weather just doesn't work for me. Good for you for running though!

Great post! I use to have a hatred for running myself. Not until just a few years ago did I start to enjoy it. I think because I was doing it so consecutively, and pushing my distance. And I also found that to be a great way to loose wait, so maybe that's why I love it do much hahaha! :)
