Lake Tahoe - Part One

Saturday morning M and I set off for a long drive to Lake Tahoe. Last time we went to Lake Tahoe we flew and although the drive is a long 9ish hours, I'm glad we did it. I knew this before, but California is ridiculously beautiful. It blows my mind. There is so much to see and the scenery is constantly changing. I woke up on the beach under palm trees and I went to sleep in the rugged mountains. We went though the city, desert and mountains. We passed lakes, streams and hot springs.

I took a crazy amount of pictures and want to share them all but I'll pick my favorites. First, a little background about Heavenly Resort. Heavenly goes though the state line of California and Nevada. I might be a nerd but I think that is super cool. I love seeing the signs that point the direction to either California or Nevada. Its also fun to stay in Nevada and eat breakfast in California. Or to say, "Let's go to the California side".

Another thing that blows my mind is how the land in the different states is so vastly physically different. If you are on the California side of the resort, you can see Lake Tahoe from every run. The view is overwhelming.

If you are on the Nevada side of the resort, you see, well - Nevada. It is brown, dry desert. Also beautiful in such a different way.

As if these totally different views aren't enough to blow my mind, if you are somewhere in the middle around the state line you can see both California and Nevada in the same view. The difference is incredible. I didn't take a panoramic picture but this should give you an idea.

Imagine this picture on a much larger scale. Basically the two larger pictures above put together in the same view. Ah-may-zing. Pictures don't do justice. You need to go there and see for yourself.

Here are some more fun pictures from our two days of snowboarding.

One of my favorite pictures I took.

Come back soon, there will be more from Lake Tahoe!

WOW these pictures are AMAZING!!!! What a beautiful place! Believe it or not...I've never been to Cali! I am going to San Francisco, Napa, San Deigo and LA all this year (between my honeymoon and weddings!) Looks like you guys had a great time! Good choice taking the 9 hour drive...why not with beautiful scenery right??

Im with you on thinking its fun that you can go to either state by walking! Seems like you guys had a good time.

Wow, this looks incredible! I've never been to Lake Tahoe, and I honestly haven't been much to that side of the country. I live in the "mountains" in Virginia, but they look nothing like this. I've also never been snowboarding, looks like fun! Thanks for sharing!

Sounds like y'all had a great time! I love the pics! I went to Lake Tahoe a few summers ago. It's so fun going to the California side and then stepping back into Nevada.
