If I haven't told you, I am a lover of craft beer. I love to frequent local breweries. Imagine our excitement in Lake Tahoe to find three different breweries nearby, or so we thought.
The first night we arrived in Tahoe we went to The Brewery at Lake Tahoe. We got a couple tasters and each a half pint and basically just ate dinner. I was still sick, trying to aide a furious sinus headache with a Vicodin and wiped out from the long drive. A couple tasters and a half pint were more than enough.
The second night we were in Tahoe I felt like a zombie when we got off of the mountain. Still sick and beyond exhausted, we decided to check out Stateline Brewery before dinner. M and I shared a pint.
Finally, our last night we decided to check out Mt. Tallac Brewing Co and this is the night we really got into our brew crawl. Mt. Tallac Brewing Co didn't have a website but I had read reviews on Yelp that it was a tiny tasting room with some great beer. Excited, we drove 9 miles across town to check it out. We pulled up to find it was closed. Bummer! I was determined and searched online to find the hours were 5-7pm. It was 4:15. We had too much time to kill and decided not to wait around. Instead, I figured we could go to the other two breweries again and stop by the lake on the way back across town.
Did you know that Lake Tahoe is 1,600 feet deep at its deepest point? So creepy!
After stopping at the lake, we went back to The Brewery at Lake Tahoe. This is when we found out there is truly only one, not three breweries in Lake Tahoe!
Instead of sitting in the restaurant, this time we bellied up to the bar. We ordered, I got the porter, and I asked the bartender if he knew the hours of Mt. Tallac Brewing Co. I wanted to go back but I didn't want to drive all the way back if I didn't trust it would really be open at 5:00. The bartender told us it had permanently closed. He continued to tell us that The Brewery at Lake Tahoe, where we were, was the only true brewery left around the whole lake.
What about that Stateline Brewery, we asked? Well the Brewery at Lake Tahoe and the Stateline Brewery were under the same ownership, basically it was the same place with the same beer. We were happy we had made it to the only true brewery in Lake Tahoe not once but twice. We decided to complete our brewery crawl by ending with a beer at the Stateline Brewery before dinner.
The Stateline Brewery had three Brewery at Lake Tahoe beers then a selection of other California beers. There is an Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout that I am absolutely in love with and they had it on tap, the reason why I wanted to stop back. M got the Mammoth Brewing Nut Brown Porter which was also excellent. So excellent that we stopped on the way home to pick up a six pack.
All in all, our Lake Tahoe brewery experience was a success.
In other great news...
This girl got a J-O-B. Yay! I'm busy doing my happy dance now but will fill you all in later.
Cheers to that!

Sorry to bump a post over a year in half old, but it came up on my google search, and I felt compelled to drop a tip. If your every at Lake Tahoe again, check out Fifty/Fifty (or 50/50) which is in Truckee, CA. While outside of Tahoe proper, it is worth the drive. Cheers.
